MAJOR BITE: OMNI PEACE T-SHIRTS

PEACE IS ALL WE NEED.
"Sometimes it falls upon a great generation to be great. You can be part of that great generation." -Nelson Mandela

I'm all about fashion for a cause, that's a given. I must admit though, I have seen the Omni Peace t-shirts worn by a few celebrities here and there but I thought nothing of it - I figured it was just another fad hence the peace sign. That was until I looked at the t-shirt more in depth and noticed that the fist was in the shape of Africa. That triggered me to look up more information on this t-shirt and I was happy at my results.

WHAT IS OMNI PEACE?
OmniPeace was founded by Los Angeles-based entrepreneur Mary Fanaro who's vision is to address vital humanitarian needs through the distribution and sale of consumer products, raise awareness of extreme poverty in sub-Saharan Africa and galvanize support for Millennium Promise. By purchasing an OmniPeace branded product, consumers now have the vehicles to become activists while participating in Millennium Promise’s call to action.

OMNI PEACE IS SPONSORED THROUGH MILLENIUM PROMISE
MILLENIUM PROMISE is a non-profit organization founded by economist and global anti-poverty crusader, Dr. Jeffrey Sachs. Their goal is to end extreme poverty by 2025. Their mission is to work village by village in Africa, to empower the poor with the skills and tools they need to pull themselves out of poverty and become self sustainable after 5 years. If we all do our part:
-We can save the lives of 30 million children who would otherwise die before reaching the age of 5.
-More than 500 million people will no longer struggle to live on less than $1 a day.
-More than 250 million people will no longer suffer from hunger.

Millennium Promise is our generation's commitment to ourselves, our fellow citizens and to our children, in the quest for a more peaceful and prosperous world. This is a task for us all. Millennium Promise is your partner in that task.

THE GOAL
There comes a time in every generation when the necessity for change is thrust upon us. A time when civilization redefines itself and momentum builds to bring down a status quo that people are no longer willing to accept; the abolition of slavery, woman's liberation, the fall of the Berlin wall, apartheid and now extreme poverty and disease. Help give the poorest people in the world a chance to survive by purchasing an OmniPeace branded product.
Contribute to the fight against extreme poverty in sub-Saharan Africa and empower African villages to become self sustainable!

QUICK SNACK: LAUREN CONRAD ON HER L.A. ISH

SHE IS SOOOOO L.A.
Okay, so I must admit I simply LOVEEEEE Lauren Conrad from "The Hills" on MTV. I love that show period, obsessed even? (Sidenote: The show has been rumored to be 100% fake recently but that doesn't matter to me! I'll still be watching) I found a few candid pics of Ms. Lauren having a lunch date with Brody. Yes, the guy that she obviously likes but won't make it official with. [ raised eyebrow ] but besides that, I really adore Lauren's style. It's soooo L.A., as the Cali folks like to say. This is casual but cute. I call that cusual!

LAUREN CONRAD
She is soooo gorgeous. And that purse & scarf are oh so chic! Diva style.

THE SCOOP: COUTURE CARES

As October comes to a close, it is surely not going out without a big bang. There have been several events this month catering to aid in funding for Breast Cancer research. Olivier Theyskens, Artistic Director of Nina Ricci, recently hosted the Couture Cares: A Benefit for Breast Cancer at the home of design extraordinare Kelly Wearstler, a handful of Beverly Hills A-listers came out to lend their support to the event. Guests like Rashida Jones and Lori Loughlin enjoyed an amazing day that featured a re-creation of Theysken’s Spring/Summer 2008 Paris fashion show and a elegant, formal luncheon, all in support of the Revlon/UCLA Breast Center.

The Guestlist
Rashida Jones and Lori Loughlin looking amazing.

Amber Valletta wearing Nina Ricci. Haute.
(Extra Tidbit: "I did Olivier's show in Paris probably ten years ago. We go way back," recalled Amber Valletta. In addition to her connection with the designer, Valletta was also inspired to attend because of her personal experiences with breast cancer. "My mom and my two grandmothers have all had breast cancer and they're survivors. It's great to be here to celebrate life," Valletta said. ) -Quote courtesy of Instyle.com

Olivier Theyskens & a model wearing one of his designs.
(Extra Tidbit: "In Paris it's a special crowd of people who see all the shows all day, but here there is another spirit because this crowd is coming to see it and enjoy it," said host Olivier Theyskens of bringing his spring show from Paris to Los Angeles. "It was great. I was very happy," the designer declared at the post-runway lunch. A Nina Ricci trunk show also offered guests the chance to shop, with 10% of all purchases donated to Revlon/UCLA Breast Center) -Quote courtesy of Instyle.com
Beau Garrett one of the spokesmodels for Revlon looking lovely.

Lori chatting it up with interior designer Mark Berkus.
(Extra Tidbit: Lori Loughlin was giddy when she met interior designer Nate Berkus, her secret crush. "I told my husband I had a crush on Nate," Loughlin admitted. "I saw him on Oprah and I think he’s so talented and so charming. He's so cute!" Still, meeting Berkus didn't distract Loughlin—or any of the other guests—from the importance of the event. "First and foremost I’m here to support breast cancer research," she said.) -Quote courtesy of Instyle.com
