It's gotta be the shades. Honestly, when have you ever seen fashion extraordinare designer Karl Lagerfeld WITHOUT his dark shades? [ moment of silence ] That's right you never have, lol. It's pretty much become his trademark. "Dark glasses are like portable eye shadow and the world looks more beautiful through tinted glasses. Everybody looks 10 years younger," states Karl Lagerfeld. "That is why I wear dark glasses always."

It was leaked back in the Summer months that Mr. Lagerfeld would be launching his own collection of men's & women's eyewear in partnership Marchon Eyewear, one of the most prominent eyewear companies around. Well, the wait is over kiddies! January of 2008 will be the launch of the first collection from Lagerfeld with his sunwear collection. Jade Jagger and Katharine Hamnett have joined forces with the likes of the Scissor Sisters, Rihanna and Timbaland to create a new collection - Fashion Against AIDS - with H&M. All the artists involved have participated free of charge to design a range of T-shirts, tank tops and hoodies for the project, which was initiated by charitable organization Designers Against AIDS. The aim of the organization is to raise awareness of the spread of HIV/AIDS among young people. The pieces run the gamut from subtle patterns representing those affected to more overt means of getting the message across; a contribution from Hamnet - a T-shirt emblazoned with "Use a condom!" - is typically vocal.

"It's a collection that's rich in color, with considerable commitment going into every garment," explains H&M's head of design, Margareta van den Bosch. "The artists have created personal prints with a strong sense of style." And with a top price of $19.99, there's no excuse for not getting involved. H&M's Fashion Against AIDS range will be available from February as part of its younger-end Divided label, with 25 per cent of the proceeds going to HIV/AIDS-prevention projects around the world. Prada Adds Some Fashion Sense to the Stock Market.

The Italian fashion house Prada, which has shelved plans to go public five times since 2001, says it will try again next year.

The company said today that its board has approved plans to list on the Milan stock market. It has named Intesa Sanpaolo, UniCredit, and Goldman Sachs as joint global coordinators and bookrunners. Mediobanca will be an adviser.

According to Women's Wear Daily, Prada's chief executive, Patrizio Bertelli, said in a statement, "We are heading toward a new era in the company's history, with solid development potential on the basis of strong momentum already shown by our results in the first semester of 2007."

Most of Prada, which also includes the Miu Miu label and Church's shoes, is owned by Miuccia Prada, her partner Bertelli, and members of their family. The company earned $104 million in 2006.

Last year, the company sold a 5 percent stake to Banca Intesa, valuing Prada at 2 billion euros, or nearly $3 billion.

Luxury-goods companies have done well in recent years. But the housing slump and credit crunch, which have already weighed on consumer spending in general, may start to move up the income ladder. Still, demand from the new rich in Russia and Asia may continue to stoke demand for fashion labels—and perhaps demand for Prada shares next year, as well.

For the fall season, I must say I was beyond excited to see a burst of bold colors shine through! If you think about fall fashion, your wardrobe normally consists of nothing but gray, brown, tan and the you-can-never-go-wrong-with BLACK. In the midst of the Winter season, I've noticed that the same celebrities who lit up the red carpets with jewel tones, prints and color have gone back to basic black for a brief moment. Not that there's anything wrong with black. I see why it's so heavily worn - it's basically goes with ANYTHING and it's an instant fix for hiding those few holiday pounds you packed on; Black gives the appearance of a smaller silhouette, of course. Works for me!

Fashion Icon/Designer Vivienne Westwood is to return to the London catwalk - after almost a decade away. The eccentric British designer will show her Red Label women's wear collection for autumn and winter 2008 at London Fashion Week next February (08). Westwood - who last showed her collection at London Fashion Week in 1998 - says, "The sales of all our lines are increasing and we decided that Red Label, which is successful worldwide and so popular in the U.K., should have its own show." She follows in the steps of designers Matthew Williamson and Luella Bartley, who both returned to the event this September (07) after several years away.

Recently revived iconic 1990's fashion label Herve Leger is set for a catwalk comeback next year, when U.S based French designer Max Azria sends his new designs for the house down the runway for the first time since the mid nineties. "I've spent the last year focusing on redesigning and reinventing the brand, while staying true to the house's heritage," he said to fashion industry insiders WWD recently. JUST A TASTE OF WHAT 2008 IS GONNA BE LIKE.....
Okay, so I've been stalking the newsstands like a crazy ex impatiently waiting for the January magazine covers to drop! I must report that I've been pretty impressed with what I've seen as yet. My favorite cover so far has hands down been Victoria Beckham on the cover of ELLE. I was so ecstatic I almost knocked an old lady over just to grab my hands on this issue simply because Mrs. Beckham graced the main page. (Okay that didn't really happen i kid, i kid! lol) I must say she killed it like it was nobody's business on the inside editorial pics - serving up nothing but high fashion! Look for yourself. She should really consider becoming a model full-time especially after she murders those upcoming Marc Jacob Spring Ads! In for a close second, was Mrs. ~~Cruise~~, I mean Katie Holmes. Man, I remember when she was just tomboyish old Joey from Dawson's Creek. Even though that was just her character, Katie didn't really shy too far from Joey's sense of tomboyish looks in her own personal style. I guess when you marry someone like Tom Cruise, you get an automatic upgrade in the fashion factor. I can't hate because she is doing it! Her look is so polished and classic. That's what I love about her, Katie does her own thing & doesn't rely heavily on what's trendy! The other covergirls of the month include: Hilary Swank (who's cover SLAYS by the way, OMG) on the cover of W Magazine, Hilary Duff covers Cosmo, Alicia Keys blows things up in Giant Mag, Kate Hudson flashes that gorgeous smile on the cover of Vogue & 2007's "It" Girl Rihanna looks fierce on Allure's cover. Ahem, am I the only one who is kinda over Rihanna? She did it HUGE this year but it's time for something new. What's next? We'll have to wait and see what '08 brings.

Is it just me or are the magazine covers from overseas normally 10x better than the ones here in the US? lol. I mean like seriously, the Harpers Bazaar Japan Cover with JLO is beyond fierce! Whew.

Venus - Ms. Williams if you're nasty has graduated from the Art Insitute of Fort Lauderdale today. She celebrated with her graduation party/clothing line launch at hotel Victor in Miami. Graduation was a very special accomplishment as it took Venus several years to actually get that piece of paper. Of course, you know with all those "minor" things in the way like Wimbledon tournaments and endorsements left and right. I'm not 100% sold on the line, as I've yet to see a celebrity line that I've really been impressed with (other than Gwen Stefani's L.A.M.B. and Sienna Miller's Twenty8Twelve line) But hey, I'm pretty sure people will be buying it since it's affordable. Major Bite: Carmen from Project Runway Is Still Doin It.

IT AINT OVER, I SAID IT AIN'T OVER.
I've missed a few of episodes of Project Runway this season but I did catch up last night thanks to Bravo showing re-runs. Out of all the contestants that were kicked off, I must admit I was oh so sad to see Carmen go the most. I loved her. I was reading her bio and saw that she is definitely NO stranger to the fashion world. The most interesting fact that stood out to me was that she actually has a clothing line that she's been apart of for a few years called, Sistahs of Harlem. This chic line has been going strong since 2002. Sistahs of Harlem promises bring you nothing but "street couture" and that it does with a vengeance. I checked out the website and the line is nothing short of amazing! I'm especially in love with their latest Fall collection. The line is called, Powerful Women in Action. I'm in love. If you like what you see below, you'll have to make a trip to New York City, Houston or Tokyo get your shopping hands on an item from the collection. I DON'T NEED NO HEADLINE FOR THIS ISH!
Okay, so clearly I've been listening to Jay-Z's American Gangster way too much. lol. Anywho, the red carpet was literally ON FIRE this week. That's why it took me so long to post my top 10 looks my lovies. I really had to shrink this list down about 3 times. lol There were so many amazing looks this week. Of course, there are those repeat offenders who are have graced my top list before such as: the always lovely Thandie Newton, Rachel Bilson, Eva Mendes, Fergie and the flawless Eva Longoria! Eva and Beyonce are KILLIN it in those gowns, fitting their bodies to the T. And the jewel tones (jade green, ruby red) are nothing short of perfect. Jennifer Lopez who always shuts down the red carpet also looked fierce in her Versace gown baby bump and all. One of my personal faves Ms. Charlize Thereon (who I don't see enough, hmph!) looked like a Goddess in her draping gown. Jennifer Hudson wore that jumpsuit, okay! I loved it on her. It definitely has that Vintage Hollywood look to it. As does Eve, who opted to wear a Beret on the red carpet. It is a daring
move, but she pulled it off! Those were my top faves, but EVERYONE looked fantastic. Can't wait til next week. ;)

PUT ME IN "COACH" I'M READY TO PLAY.

I must admit I've never really been a fan of the COACH brand (yes I'm sure I'll get crucified for that admittance lol) But I have been paying much more attention to the brand this year. I actually just browsed through a COACH store two weeks ago and I was impressed, just didn't have the funds to grab anything! Darn, that credit card for coming so late. Anywho, I'm glad that they're finally stepping out of the fashion box to expand their collection with more than just their signature purses. But what would COACH be without their bags? Hi lovies! I have a yummy new makeup product for you today as the yummy item of the day. Yes, this is not a beauty/makeup blog but I believe makeup is apart of FASHION and I loveeeee me some makeup. Makeup is art. Fashion is art. You get it? Fashion for your Face! Makeup can at times be your best accessory. So I was reading the latest issue of Cosmo yesterday (with my girl Beyonce on the cover) and I always look at the AD's first for some reason! I came across a fantabulous one - it was Max Factor's new product with the beautiful spokeswoman Carmen Electra and she looked absolutely amazing! Her face was BEAT honey. I thought I was looking at a high fashion AD for a second until I read that the product was actually Max Factor's new Vivid Impact Highlighting Mascara! How genius is that? A double sided mascara. It not only lengthens and volumizes your lashes but it also gives them a pop of instant COLOR! I'm totally sold on this product. This mascara is perfect for glamming your eyes up for the holiday season - since you'll want to be more dramatic than usual I'm sure. And today is payday too? I will be running to my nearest Walmart to snatch up this mascara! ;) Will you?

As a little bonus, in case you want to pick up this lovely mascara, I'm gonna give you guys some tips on how to wear it. Make sure you save it to prevent walking around looking like a clown gone wrong!

How to Apply

-Apply the basecoat from the very base of the top lashes to the tip, working the wand outwards.
· Wait for the basecoat to dry (Note: if you don’t wait for it to dry the highlighting top coat won’t show up as vivid and will blend with the basecoat as opposed to highlighting lashes)
· Apply the top coat on the very tips of the top lashes and on the bottom lashes to create a highlighted look with a shot of color.
· Apply a few coats of top coat from base to tip on lower and upper lashes for a lot of color
· Apply topcoat on lower lashes only to create a multi-dimensional lash look.

Wearability

· For green or hazel eyes – try Burning Bordeux shade to make the color of eyes pop

Ms. Cate Blanchett is the covergirl on the December issue of Australian Harper's Baazar magazine wearing a Giorgio Armani Fall 2007 dress.Vogue Nippon has also decided to dress up supermodel Snejana Onopka in the exact same Giorgio Armani dress for their January 2008 issue. I personally like the Vogue Nippon cover better. It just looks more dramatic to me capturing the dynamics of the dress. What do you think my lovies? What snagged the better cover?

Square shape bracelets are nothing new to the accessory scene, but they have been seen more recently on the arms of several celebs this year. Marc Jacobs is one of my favorite designers. Victoria Beckham is one of my favorite fashionistas. So you can only imagine my uber excitement when I read with my two bugged out eyes that it was confirmed by Mr. Jacobs himself that these two amazingly fashion forward guru's were joining forces. Mrs. Beckham aka Posh Spice will be the lovely face of Marc's Spring 2008 Ad Campaigns. [ insert loud screams here ] I figured something had to be up - Mrs. Beckham was all over Marc's fashion week show back in September. I am so excited for this collabo. Victoria is so fierce with her fashion game. It's almost sickening. I just KNOW she rocked the AD's like only she could.

The designer says that his favorite images show Posh popping out of a box or with her head buried in a shopping bag. “She was like, ‘I totally get it and I’m totally into it,” Jacobs said. “She has an amazing sense of humor about herself….She just gave herself over to it.”

My third eye - which I often refer to as my "fashion eye" has been noticing a cute trend for arm jewelry recently. I am morbidly obsessed with bracelets & bangles. FOOD FOR THOUGHT: HOW TO WEAR A SCARF!

TIE ME UP BABY. ANYWAY YOU WANT TO.

Today I'm featuring one of my favorite accessories for fall/winter months - the beloved SCARF. Yes, this wonderful accessory is my best friend when the temperature isn't. Let me give the 3 reasons why I love scarves so much:

They're versatile. You can wear a scarf several ways other than just your around your neck. (i.e. tie it around a ponytail to give ur hair some chicness, add some instant style to a solid color outfit with a scarf as a belt, etc.)

They come in several textures, sizes, fabrics. I have silk scarves, fleece scarves, skinny scarfs, thick scarves. You name it. I love the variety scarves bring to my outfit. I never get bored wearing them. Gotta love that.

They're cozy & warm. Duhh. The obvious answer. My scarves are my lifesavers for those brisk, windy fall/winter mornings & evenings. And I look rather fashionable doing so might I add ;)

For all my fellow scarf lovers out there, I'm going to give you a few tips on how to wear a scarf. Yes, there are quite a few ways to tie one. Seems so simple right? Well, most people actually only know one way to tie their scarf. (tie the knot right in the middle and call it a day, lol)

The Long Knit Scarf (6 feet or more). This can be worn in two ways. The first way is to place the middle of the scarf at your neck. Begin wrapping the two sides hanging down around you neck over and over, alternating sides each time. It is important to make sure you wrap it close to your neck one time and then very loose the next to you get several layers and levels hanging around you. The second way to tie a long knit scarf is to fold the scarf in half, then place the new middle on your neck. Take the two ends and tie them in a loose knot around your neck.

The Short Knit Scarf (Less than 6 feet). The first way to wear this scarf is to fold the scarf in half and place the new middle at your neck. Put your hand in the loop created by the fold in the scarf and pull the other two loose ends through this. Pull it as tight as you like. The second way is to hang the full length of the scarf around your neck with one side hanging down about one foot more than the other, then take the long end and cross it over your neck, tossing it behind you and over the opposite shoulder.

The Long Silk or Satin Scarf. This looks best either tied in a loose knot or tied like a traditional tie. To tie it like a tie, place the scarf around your neck with one side hanging down longer than the other. Hold the short end straight out and wrap the long end across it. Then bring the long end around the back of the short one and then around again (making two loops). The second time you go around, keep your finger inside the loop and form an opening. Now, as you bring the scarf around the back for the second time, stop and bring the scarf up through the V shape now formed by the two sides just below your chin. After you bring it up and through this V, bring it down through the opening held by your finger. Pull the scarf completely through and tighten the knot. You can adjust the placement of the knot by pulling on what was the short end of the scarf until both sides are equal.

The Square Silk or Satin Scarf. This type of scarf can be tied by pulling the two opposite corners tight until it forms a long narrow band of fabric. Also, this type of scarf could be simply tied in a knot with its two opposite corners. Place the knot at the back of your neck and have the triangular shape of fabric formed hang below your chin loosely.

Extra Wide Fabric Scarf. These scarves are most often seen in Europe and may include a fringe. They are often a wrinkly type of soft fabric and are about 4 feet long and 3 feet wide when completely unfolded. Start by placing the middle of the scarf at the back of your neck with the two unfolded ends hanging on either side of you. Pull each end across you and around your neck to create a loose bunch of fabric hanging on your upper chest, pull it a little tighter and tuck the ends in to have a voluminous bunch of cloth at your neck.

I just love the British fashion scene. Actually, I love fashion from all over the world. It's always interesting to see how similar or different fashion & trends are on the other side of the world. Most times, I'm usually inspired with my own looks from my fashionistas overseas! Last night was a HUGE night in British fashion as the British Fashion Awards took place in the UK. Awards were presented to those who have made the most outstanding contributions to British clothing design in the past year. The awards include that of British Designer of the Year, as well as awards to the 'most-fashionable' celebrities in other various fields. The awards are organized by the British Fashion Council.

Jasmine Guinness in a black corseted dress. I just couldn't get with this dress. The fabric perhaps?

Daisy Lowe wanted to make sure she stood out from the crowd in body art head-to-toe and a strapless prom dress. Didn't work too well for me.

Fashion icon and couture collector Daphne Guinness. I normally love her but last night just wasn't her night. What is that skirt made out of ?!

Vivienne Westwood, who won Outstanding Achievement In Fashion Design looked rather festive (for a lack of meaner words). Just because you're a designer doesn't mean you can't look a mess too. Still love her though.

MAJOR BITE: JULIA ROBERTS DESIGNS ARMANI BRACELET FOR WORLD AIDS DAY

"Stop AIDS; Keep the Promise - Leadership". - 2007 Theme.

Yup, no catchy headline today folks. In the next few days, an important campaign is coming up - World AIDS day. This day is important to me and has been since this disease has hit close to home. Started on 1st December 1988, World AIDS Day is not just about raising money, but also about increasing awareness, fighting prejudice and improving education. World AIDS Day is important in reminding people that HIV has not gone away, and that there are many things still to be done. Of course, there will be celebrity presence during this effort and recently one of Hollywood's elite, Julia Roberts is taking apart of this campaign.

Last Wednesday, Roberts designed a bracelet for sale with renown designer & long-time friend Giorgio Armani. It is the first time the Italian designer has worked with another name on a product. The leather bracelet in red or brown has a "Tree of Life" design and inside carries the initials J.R, Armani said.

"Julia has helped to create a beautiful accessory ... which will be a visible reminder of the part that we can all play in fighting AIDS in Africa," Armani said in a statement.

Armani, known for his classic, flowing clothes and subtle colors, has been a partner in the (PRODUCT) RED initiative to send funds from the sale of products to help the fight against AIDS since it started in 2006.
Armani chose the materials and colors for the bracelet.

I WOULD LOVE TO HAVE TIM GUNN AROUND WHEN I SHOP. AT LEAST I'LL KNOW HE'S BEING HONEST.

Tim Gunn is always known to give his honest opinions on what's working currently on the fashion scene. This fall season was no exception as he recently gave his thoughts on the current state of fashion to a New York newspaper. Here's what the fashion guru had to say: "I have to say that one of the things I love about fashion today is that there is something for everybody," says Gunn, whose day job is now the chief creative officer of Liz Claiborne Inc. "Whether you're a classicist, bohemian, minimalist - it's out there. And if you're exuberant and over the top, it's there for you, too."

I concur, oh wise fashionable one.

What's Hot and What's Not so Hot!
-The modern peacoat is a must-have item, especially in a vibrant colour or with a cinched waist. He also likes the look of a patent leather trench. "I've seen it in black, and it's stunning. I've seen it in white - I'm not a great fan of white - but Valentino and Michael Kors both did red, and I love the return of that." Gunn says.

-Gunn hopes the dress is here to stay. It provides so many options to women, he says, but it also is the easiest solution for day-to-day dressing.

-Tim won't go so far as to say he doesn't like the high-waisted pants trend, but he acknowledges it can be difficult for most women to wear.

-The round-toe pump is another item he's not so keen on. "It tends to cut you off. I'd stay away from that if I was a woman," Gunn notes.

-For men, he is a fan of the slimmer silhouette that's been adopted in recent seasons.

Less bulk is flattering on everyone, even men who think they're hiding a little bit of girth under an oversized jacket, he says.

Gabe Tesoriero, publicist for the 29-year-old rapper, declined further comment.

The show, set to air Dec. 4 on CBS, was taping at the Kodak Theatre in Los Angeles on Thursday. Will.i.am was filling in for West, said Hillary Siskind, publicist for the Black Eyed Peas frontman.

This week's top tasty looks were so ultra chic that I just didn't know what to do with myself! Well, I did feel my shopping hand start twitching a bit. Where are those shopaholics anonymous classes? lol. Anywho, when I compiled my favorite celeb looks, I surprisingly saw some similar trends going on between the ladies & I grouped them as such! Keep glamming it up divas! ;)

Nicole Richie & Cameron Diaz are both fall fashion prepared! Keeping their lovely locks in place with berets (hot trend) and two different styles of boots - booties (hot trend) Are those Louboutin Nicole?! I see RED bottoms! & the classic knee boot that Cam is wearing. I am loving Cameron's jacket. It's classic! That rich navy blue color is just doing it for me.

Natalie Portman & Kerri Washington were both looking flirty in their mini dresses above the knee (hot trend) this week. I love the pink color on Natalie's dress, it definitely pops. Kerri's dress fits her to a T. She picked the perfect dress for her bust! You HAVE to have proper support for your bust if you're going strapless ladies.

Jessica Alba & Lauren London both wearing vintage hollywood looks. I love the detailing & cut of Jessica's dress. Timeless. However, I'm not too sure about stocking with open toe shoes, minus points on that look. Lauren looks flawless in her dress and the color is just right. I love the mini waist belt! And even with the plunging neckline she still looks classy with a touch of 40's hollywood - p.s. I love her shoes too! lol

Anne Hathaway & Jennifer Hudson look gorgeous in their bubble hem dresses. (hot trend) This look is one of few that actually looks flawless on any shape. As it can either give you curves like it does with Anne or it can minimize your curves in Jennifer's case. It's all about PROPORTION for your shape! ps. I love the idea of pockets on party dresses, that is GENIUS! (i.e. Jennifer's dress)

Alicia Keys & Katherine Hiegel looked effortlessly polished this week. Both ladies are definitely wearing classic looks that could work for either day or night. I just adore Alicia's fitted blazer (hot trend) and Katherine's line printed skirt. Lovely!

Shirley Jackson, 61, a principal leadership coach, will preside over the 50th Anniversary of the Ebony Fashion Fair in Detroit as general chair with the Detroit Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc., which is hosting the show at the Max M. Fisher Music Center on Sunday. In its 50 years, the Fashion Fair has raised more than $55 million for African-American organizations nationwide.

More than that, Fashion Fair has had a cultural impact that still resonates.

"When this event started, there was still a huge amount of segregation," says Alicia Nails, 50, of Southfield, the public relations chair of the Detroit chapter. "This was an event where we could arrive with dignity and sit where we wanted.

"In the 1950s, if you didn't go to Paris, where else would you see this stuff?"

What people will see at this year's Fashion Fair, "Glam Odyssey: A Fashion Journey into Bliss and Beyond," are 11 women and 2 men strutting the stage in some of the finest clothing around.

The Fair was bolstered over the decades by its producer and director, Eunice W. Johnson, who made hundreds of trips to Europe to purchase clothing from fashion houses for the nationally touring event.

Fashion Fair has produced American icons, like Richard Roundtree, a model who went on to star in "Shaft," and Pat Cleveland, who became a supermodel. This year's show will continue showing off designs from the world's biggest names, including Christian Dior, Dolce & Gabbana and Carolina Herrera.The legacy of Fashion Fair is not lost on Ontwanet Moran, 26, of Los Angeles, a model who will wear 16 of the 200 outfits in the show.

"It's just an honor to be a part of black history," she says. "It's a show that, for the black race, says 'You can't hold us down.'

"To know this was around before I was even born and all the things it's accomplished and all the scholarship money that it's raised, there are no other words that can describe being in it except by saying it's a blessing."

Moran, who is in her second year with the Fashion Fair, says the audience can expect more creativity and dancing from the models.

Jeena Quansah, a model from Washington, D.C., says, "It's more than walking down the runway looking like an android. You gotta move!"

The show celebrates diversity within the black community.

"We represent different shapes and sizes and hair types, from the lighter skin to darker skin woman," says Quansah, 26. "It's amazing for us to just come together and represent all types instead of focusing on maybe the lighter skin tones. It's all beautiful."

To Jada Collins, show commentator, learning about Fashion Fair and cutting-edge clothing through the pages of Ebony and JET magazines gave her a feeling she could find nowhere else.

"I would see the pretty African-American men and women, and I just thought, 'How extraordinary!' " she says. "I could not pick up a Vogue and identify with the women in Vogue. I could not pick up Elle and necessarily identify with the women in Elle. But I could pick up Ebony magazine feel a sense of belonging."

WHAT IS "GLAM ODYSSEY" ALL ABOUT?

Fashion-savvy shoppers can discover stunning original designs as The Links Inc., Tri-City Chapter presents the Ebony Fashion Fair's ''Glam Odyssey: A Fashion Journey Into Bliss & Beyond.'' The fashion show, set for 8 p.m. Friday at Saginaw's Temple Theatre, will offer a sneak peek at some of the hottest designs of the fashion season.

In its 50th year, Fashion Fair will send the audience on a glamorous journey through five decades of designer fashions. Creations from the showrooms of famous designers including Christian Dior, Oscar de la Renta, Dolce & Gabbana, Carolina Herrera, Bill Blass and Jean Louis Scherrer will grace the stage.

Okay, so I did miss the season opener of Project Runway Season 4 last night due to work but from what I've heard from fellow fashionistas who follow the show like true fanatics, I heard things were good but quite scattered. However, from what I've seen the designers produced some pretty good pieces for the first run, well most of them anyway. The 1st challenge this season was switched up as it normally consists of a "weird things" challenge. This time around each designers had to ransack three tents that were filled with more than $50,000 of fabric from MOOD. The challenge gave the designers the chance to present the judges with a garment that expressed who they are or their personal point of view. After viewing the pictures, I must say I'm pretty impressed. Competition is going to be fierce this season I can see that already. This season is also already buzzing to be the best one yet - as some of the biggest names in fashion, sports and design will guest star this season on “Runway.” Goody! And look at what the winner gets - can you say fab! An editorial feature on the winning designer will run in an issue of ELLE, the winner will walk away with a cash prize of $100,000 from TRESemmé professional hair care to start their own line, and will have the opportunity to sell a fashion line on Bluefly.com. Saturn will award the winner a 2008 Saturn Astra. Pure hauteness.

BATTLE AGAINST THE BLOGS, OH BOY.

I'm thrilled to see some of my favorite black actresses gracing the cover of Ebony (especially Sanaa Lathan, I adore that woman) as they all look amazing of course. True inspriations to young, black females as myself. On the flipside, the actual article itself or conversation rather between Essence and the three ladies became rather I'll say opinionated. As Gabrielle Union had ALOT to say about blogs and their credibility - as well as how blogs in "our" community put each other down. (raised eyebrow) Read more below.

Essence: How do you deal with the 24-hours-a-day gossip that comes out on the Internet?
Gabrielle: Just last week somebody gave me a baby. This isn’t Perez Hilton or the White gossip people, these are women of color, specifically Black women who, for whatever reason, don’t like the company I keep.
Sanaa: She’s talking about the gossip sites.
Essence: The blogs
Sanaa: That are run by Black women.
Gabrielle: And now because everyone is clamoring for celebrity tidbits, the bigger gossip sites and even mainstream entities are picking up on it. No fact-checking, no nothing. And in one week’s time, there were like five different dudes, a baby—I’m a home wrecker. In literally seven days. I can’t point the finger at the White media. They don’t care about us. Paparazzi are not staked out in front of any of our houses. They are not going through our garbage because they don’t care about us in that way. So when you hear crap about us, it is coming from our own community, which hurts.
Nia: We are some of the few Black actresses whose passions are rooted in our community.
Gabrielle: There is this idea that there is integrity in journalism; if it’s written it has to be true. But that’s not the case. When blogs or any of the magazines get it wrong, there’s no accountability. In the next breath, they’ll complain on the blogs that we don’t have enough Black stars. Well, you rip us to shreds every two seconds from our nose to the weave to the clothes to the shoes to the ashy ankles.

My Response: I agree partially with Gabrielle about credibility on some on these blogs. But she has to realize that while it's not fair at times to these celebs, that is what SELLS, gets HITS and that's what people want to SEE - the rumors & the gossip. I found it interesting that she name dropped Perezhilton.com (which is clearly for entertainment purposes in my eye) but didn't name drop any blogs in OUR community that she believes are so strongly ripping her to shreds. (raised eyebrow) There are good black blogs out there that strive to have good sources with their information, (i.e. Concreteloop, YBF etc) So I wonder who she's referring to? Nevertheless, I'm pretty sure this interview will either prick alot of nerves or step on a couple toes especially in the black blog community.

THE SCOOP: HAUTE CHOCOLATE COUTURE! YUMMY!

Models in New York paraded outfits made of chocolate in the 2007 Haute Chocolate Couture Collection as the audience feasted their eyes on dresses and accessories made out of dark and white chocolate, chocolate squares, chocolate chips and little else. Model Ashley Moss showed off a dress made from cookies.

"It's actually amazing. It's not everyday that you get to wear something like this so I'm really, really excited about it. It's a first time experience to be wearing cookies," she told Reuters Television.

The show was part of the 10th Annual International Chocolate Show held over the weekend.

All outfits were meticulously crafted by several designers, including Ortrud Muench Carstens who said the sun almost sabotaged her creation.

"You have to keep it at a very low temperature, not more than about 65 or 68 degrees (18-20 degrees Celsius)," said Carstens.

"The other day I opened the window while I was still working on the dress, and the sun was shining and it, if you come close to it, you see, it melted," she said, pointing out an area of partially melted chocolate.

THE SCOOP: ACE AWARDS IN NEW YORK CITY

The man whose own latest accessory is dyed blue hair, Marc Jacobs, took home the "Designer of the Year" award at the 11th Annual ACE Awards in New York on Nov. 5, one of many people honored by the Accessories Council this year for their achievements in the world of accessories. Jacobs, whose shoes and handbags for both his signature collection and his younger Marc by Marc Jacobs brand are highly sought after items, also designs accessories for one of the most recognizable luxury brands in the world, Louis Vuitton, which he reinvents season after season. His latest collection, shown on the runways in Paris in October, featured a collaboration with artist Richard Prince.

Actress Mandy Moore was honored as "Fashion Innovator," while supermodel and "Project Runway" producer Heidi Klum, who designed a jewelry line of her own that she will wear in upcoming episodes, received the "Fashion Influencer" award. Moore opted to wear a form-fitting black satin shirt dress, while Klum wore a black and gold brocade gown. Jessica Simpson, a presenter, wore a black and gold sheath.

Black dresses - perhaps better for highlighting one's accessories - turned out to be the prevailing statement of the evening, as fellow honoree Tory Burch, whose new line garnered the "Accessory Brand Launch" award, wore an elegant black halter gown. Presenter Helena Christensen and Lucy Liu, who accepted Valentino's lifetime achievement award on his behalf, also looked stunning in tiered dresses - Liu's, from the Valentino couture collection, featured dramatic, full ruffles and Christensen's was Grecian column-meets-flapper.

The other award winners included Macy's, Inc. (Retailer of the Year), Harper's Bazaar (Magazine of the Year), Scoop (Specialty Retailer of the Year), Bridget Foley (Marylou Luther Award for Fashion Journalism) and Nancy Gonzalez (Brand of the Year).

For designer dish of the week, (which I haven't done in a little while) I normally feature up & coming haute designers with an interview to follow but this time around I decided to feature one of my feature online vintage shops because I sooo love vintage clothing. Especially from the '40s and the '70s, I honestly believe those were the most creative eras as far as fashion is concerned. The name alone Vintage at Tiffany's speaks volumes - a spinoff of one of my favorite old hollywood movies, Breakfast at Tiffany's -which starred of course, the legendary fashion icon Ms. Audrey Hepburn (love her). Of course, there are plenty of vintage shops online but Vintage at Tiffany's always catches my eye. The clothes are always vintage chic but still look modernized and wearable for today. Anna Wintour is like the Tiger Woods or Michael Jordan of Fashion ; She's the BEST to do it. Well-known for her cold as ice demeanor, those dark shades and the perfect symmetrical bob that's never out of place - Anna is just the ish. Hate or love her, she has singlehandedly turned the VOGUE empire into a household name worldwide! HAPPY BIRTHDAY ANNA! Wait, could I even call her ~~Anna~~?

Brief History

Born in Britain, she started her career in 1970, working in the fashion department at Harpers & Queen in London. MAJOR BITE: SKINNY MODELS OFF THE RUNWAY PLEASE!

Size on the runway is no new issue to the fashion world. Skinny has always been "in". But let's be realistic here- the average woman in America is a size 12. You would never know that judging from the looks of the modern runway where models are bone thin at a size 0.

In recent months, size has been under the microscope as a handful of designers have been banning models for being too thin and/or encouraging them to "fatten up". Could it be step in the right direction? Depends on who you ask. Some say yes, but there's still quite a way to go before any real change is seen.

Being a young woman with curves myself, I totally support the movement 100% because it's so crucial that women learn to appreciate and love their bodies as they are. It took me a while to do that myself. Self-love is #1.

I really commend George Namho from Marietta, Georgia for beginning this movement and campaign! It's such a much needed positive message to all women out there. Love the skin you're in ladies! Because you can truly be beautiful at any size. Don't let anyone tell you anything different!

A celebrity jeweler who put diamonds on celebrities from Sir Elton John to Kanye West pleaded guilty Wednesday to falsifying records and giving false statements to investigators looking into a multistate drug ring. Terms of the plea deal call for Jacob Arabov of New York to serve up to 46 months in prison and pay a $2 million penalty, U.S. Attorney Stephen J. Murphy said in a news release. No sentencing date was immediately set by U.S. District Judge Avern Cohn.

In return for the guilty plea, prosecutors agreed to drop money laundering charges against the man known in the hip-hop world as "Jacob the Jeweler," said Arabov's attorney, Benjamin Brafman. "I realize I have made a terrible mistake and I accept the consequences of my actions," Arabov said in a news release issued through Brafman. Arabov, 42, was arrested in June 2006 at his Manhattan jewelry shop. Authorities accused him and others of conspiring to launder about $270 million in drug profits for the "Black Mafia Family," a ring that operated out of the Detroit area beginning in the early 1990s. The 7-year investigation resulted in the indictments of Arabov and 41 other people, Murphy's office said. Twenty-eight have pleaded guilty, eight are scheduled for trial Nov. 19 and the whereabouts of six others are unknown. Federal authorities have said about 1,100 pounds of cocaine and $19 million in cash and other assets were seized beginning in 2000. Arabov, a Russian immigrant also known as the "King of Bling," became popular among hip-hop and R&B artists in the mid-1990s.

THE JUICE: EBONY QUITS TOP MODEL?

Okay, i'm pretty sure all of my fellow ANTM addicts know what happened on last night's episode. Well, I was in the dark about who got the ax until a few minutes ago (I didnt get a chance to watch the TIVO'd episode - blame homework for that one!) And I learned this: On last night's ANTM episode Ebony Morgan decided to drop out of the competition. She ended up in the bottom two with Ambreal and Tyra chose to keep Ebony in the competition. However, after weeks of being picked apart in panel and being classifed as a "diva", Ebony made up in her mind that reality tv wasn't for her and she packed her bags. Oh boy, I must say I didn't see it coming even though Ebony wasn't one of my faves.

No need to worry about Ebony Morgan. The 20-year-old Chicagoan is giggling today, and sounding hopeful about her future since calling it quits on "America's Next Top Model." How could she, you ask? Morgan gives us the deal, and shares more about herself than you got to see in this post-show interview.

That took real courage for you to leave the show the way you did. Do you have any regrets?
I don't really regret much of anything that I've done in my life. Reality TV isn't for everyone. It wasn't for me, so I decided to stay true and real to myself. That's what was right for me.

What are your career aspirations now?
I am a nursing student at Chicago State University. I'm in my 2nd year. I'm really excited about that. I'm still interested in modeling, but I don't know if I want to make a career out of it. If any opportunities are thrown to me than I'm defiintley going to go for it. I'm just not for reality TV shows.

What did you take away from the show?
I learned that family is so important. Before I left home, I was the most shallow, materitalistic person I knew. On the show, I was in a $15 million house in Beverly Hills, and I wasnt' happy. All I could think of was my family. I've learned that family is so important.

Do you think the editing of the show presented you in a truthful way?
I was more myself in the house than at panel. I was never comfortable on panel and I don't know why. I couldn't relax. I came off as cold and non-chalant. Or, as they said, "attitudish." When I watch the show, [my actions] are screaming out nervousness. The only time we saw Tyra was at panel. So when she saw me, I was nervous and fidgety.

Did you keep the Naomi Campbell weave?
Hahaha. No, I took that out. I put on my Tyra weave.

Your hair looked nice before the makeover.
That was a wig. I love my lace fronts.

Do you agree with Tyra and the judges that you have trouble handling criticism?
If the criticism was constructive, I would have handled it differently. It wasn't constructive. I felt like I was being attacked sometimes. After they'd say one good thing, there were 10 negative things after. I'm not used to being criticized, so it was dififcult. Also, when I'm down, I call my dad or my sister and I'm back up. I wasn't able to do that on the show.

Which photo shoot did you like most?
When I was the bird of paradise, with the paint. That was a lot of fun. The makeup artists were awesome. They were so creative.

What was Tyson Beckford like?
He was soo hot. I really wanted to meet him. When he came, I was making toast and I turned around he was there and and I screamed! He's cute, and he's really nice, too.

Which of the girls did you like most in the house?
Lisa and I were the closest. I liked Janet, too. Heather was pretty cool. All of the girls were wonderful.

Who did you like least?
There's no one that I disliked. During the semi-finals, Bianca and I went head to head. But in the house, we were all very cool.

Who do you think has the best chance of winning?
No one in particular. I think all the girls are wonderful. They all have great potential. To the girls, that don't win, I wish them well.

What style/fashionable clothes do you like to see on a man?
I love that Kanye West look. Button-up shirt, jeans not too baggy. It's like the intelligent, urban look. I also like a guy with really broad shoulders. I'm really into the football players. (Particularly, Adewale Ogunleye of the Chicago Bears, she says)

What advice do you have for aspiring models?
Stay in school, and keep your education first. Modeling is a fun career, but it can only last but so long. You should always have something to fall back on.

What was the best part of being on the show?
Being in a $15 million mansion in Beverly Hills. There were electronic curtains! They'd open up and close at a certain time.

Do you have a favorite Top Model?
I love Eva. She is just so fabulous to me. She's my favorite Top Model winner.

What do you want viewers to know about you?
That I am really sweet person. That I am not a quitter, but a person who realized that reality TV wasn't for me. I'm ambitious and a go-getter.

As October comes to a close, it is surely not going out without a big bang. There have been several events this month catering to aid in funding for Breast Cancer research. Olivier Theyskens, Artistic Director of Nina Ricci, recently hosted the Couture Cares: A Benefit for Breast Cancer at the home of design extraordinare Kelly Wearstler, a handful of Beverly Hills A-listers came out to lend their support to the event. Guests like Rashida Jones and Lori Loughlin enjoyed an amazing day that featured a re-creation of Theysken’s Spring/Summer 2008 Paris fashion show and a elegant, formal luncheon, all in support of the Revlon/UCLA Breast Center.

I know you're probably wondering what does this video have to do with fashion. Well, if you just happen to check the star studded lineup in this video, you would see why I'm so in love with it! THE SCOOP: SEAN JOHN WOMEN LAUNCH

SEAN JOHN WOMEN IS BACK.

As you may have seen or heard, Sir Diddy has finally decided to do it, do it for the ladies - again. Yes, Diddy plans on giving his women's collection another shot. Sean John had difficulties launching their women's collection previously. Now Mr. Combs is preparing for several major launches before the year is over and done with. The collection is now available in Macy's and other retail department stores.

This past weekend, Diddy hosted the launch party for his new Sean John Women Collection in New York City. The spokesmodels for his campaign are the beautiful Lauren London, Cassie, and Asia from the Search for the Next Pussycat Doll show fame. (Sidenote: my favorite is Lauren, she is just stunning!) The party served up quite a few celebrities and familiar faces in attendance such as: DJ Coco Chanel, Jaslene from Top Model, Irv Gotti, Anthony Anderson and Janice Combs (Diddy's mom) and his sister Keisha also showed up to lend support.

(Sidenotes: Who did that to Jaslene? I love the girl, but now she's really livin up to the those "drag-queenish" comments. And i love Mama Combs but she needs to start dressing age appropriate. She's long overdue for a "dress like you're somebody's mom, not their sister" makeover.)

(Sidenotes: The AD's could have been better. Nothing stands out with these ad's. But I like the jackets nonethless and the ladies looks gorgeous.)
